BHS stage 1 - cost?

As title! How much does it cost to take the BHS stage 1 exam?

Lots!! Plus lessons/ lectures if you have them before. It really irritates me it costs so much as I would have loved to do all my parts, but I have never had the money.

I looked on the BHS website and found the link to the PDF document with the costs on, but for some reason it will not open, which is why i asked on here, so if anyone does know/has a rough idea it would be really helpful!

Looked it up for a kid yesterday, think it said £305 at Oaklands College, St Albans.

Is there an age limit? Kid is 13.

Hmm BHS site says £155 if all done on one day. I've got a feeling min age is 16.

Yes i believe 16 is the minimum age.

10 weeks preparation at Oaklands, cost £450, I presume the exam mentioned is Stage One?

I'm looking at doing stage 1 soon (booked in for the R&RS). Going to go through the book and have a couple of lessons in preperation.

I've heard that if you've been round horses a few years you should be ok with minimum training for stage 1.

Just done mine, sure it was 156 for both parts.

Theory and practical? Dumb question: is there riding involved and if so, what? I really want this child to start sme kindof training and have an aim, maybe with the Horse Owner's certificate. He urgently needs to address his spelling and this wil motivate him.

cinnamon - I don't know much about the system but i think you can take the Riding and Road Safety exam age 12, so thats something.

Minimum age for stage 1 is 14.
