BHS Trec - Does anyone do it?

I have been thinking about getting into BHS Trec with my boy as I did endurance several years ago and this seems similar, a little more exciting and more involved.

I was just wondering if anyone out there does it and can give me some pointers on how to get into it and what training to do with Boss to get him prepared. I have read some of the info on the BHS website but was wondering if there was anyone who has experience and can give me some informed advice :)

I do :D Me and my boy won level 3 individual at the GB champs this year :)

Start with the kelly marks indoor competitions over the winter and get your horse use to the obstycles :) Then by next spring when the competitions start again you'll just need a fit horse and you'll have a great time on the orrianteering :D

Wow! Congratulations! :) What is involved in the kelly marks competitions?? How did you get started?
 
I am looking to start doing this as my horse is off jumping for at least the next 9 months, but hopefully will be able to walk and trot - hopefully canter, but we'll see! Looks fun, and the Kelly Marks series do too :)
 
I love Trek though only ever done one and that was as indoor event a few years ago. Dunno hopw but I came 2nd out of 30 in the Newcomers, think it ws just pure luck :)

I have been asked to go to the Trek event in November, due to my health I can't ride but I am still taking my horse and will be spectating while my firend rides him.

It anyone else going it's at Shuttleworth College
 
I do..and love it!

I started at the Kelly marks Bicton College winter indoor in february 2009 and am completely hooked.

and agree the winter indoor series is a good place to see it and have a first go. Some of the winter series venues offer a mapped route to practise your orienterring too.

where are you in wiltshire? Stockland Lovell have one on 30th October if you are south witlshire.

suggest you visit TREC UK forum which is very friendly and has lots of advice and information..and dates.

give it a go. it is fun, but you can be as competitive as you like :-)
