Preliminary instructor? How do you become a BHSPI. I have looked and can’t make sense of the bhs page.
If memory serves this was brought in as an extra step prior to gaining the BHSAI. Once you had taken the first 3 BHS stages and the PTT, you were then a BHSPI and had to log 500 (?I think?) teaching hours to gain the BHSAI. My impression was that it was to stop people going to equine colleges, passing all three BHS stages and their PTT and then gaining the BHSAI certification with very little teaching experience. As far as I know, the BHS AI/II/I qualifications have now been replaced by the UKCC coaching certificates - but I'm not very well up on the BHS system these days.

It’s now level 2 foundation coach - basically allows you to do supervised coaching in an equestrian establishment. Then you go on to do level 3 (similar to the old AI). From there you can specialise in the disciplines.
