I can’t read that? My eyes? It’s all blurry.
Why have they cancelled? Such a shame.
Agree, we had several going but not entered yet.Sorry but this really annoys me. Why didn't they put out a notice beginning of August stating that entries were low and unless they achieve X number they will cancel by X date? BE venues manage to do this (and the one that didn't was seriously questioned as to their motives after cancelling a la Bicton).
I have no skin in the game as have zero interest in competing in or watching show jumping.
I think the market has changed- the same is happening in eventing, people are holding off entering until much closer to the event when it looks clear it's not going to ballot. Most events are staying open into the week they runBut I guess they know what their entries were this time last year, this far out., for comparison.
But if you do that for SJ you can expect the events on a surface to continue, and those on grass needing lots of prep to cease.I think the market has changed- the same is happening in eventing, people are holding off entering until much closer to the event when it looks clear it's not going to ballot. Im nowhere near Bicton so doesnt effect me, but I agree - SJ was always entered pretty late (I remember entries on the day which was great!), since covid they seem to be closing entries further and further away. Drives me nuts, I dont enter BS on grass anymore as my mare is barefoot and I wont compete if its slippy, normally I could enter on the day years ago or at least see the weather forecast was ok before entering. It would never occur to me to enter SJ that far in advance. It’s one of the most wonderful thing about SJing! I've just entered 2 classes for a 3 day show this coming weekend which feels plenty early enough to me
Round here most of the show jumping centres seem to have entries open until the day before though admittedly that is one day shows so the stay away ones may be later. There are quite a lot of centres so perhaps that is why the entries don't close that early as on the whole the class numbers aren't huge.Im nowhere near Bicton so doesnt effect me, but I agree - SJ was always entered pretty late (I remember entries on the day which was great!), since covid they seem to be closing entries further and further away.
