The hosts of Bicton Horse Trials, the Clinton Devon Estates, are undertaking a major project to develop Bicton Arena and restore the Grade 1 listed parkland which will impact on the future management of the parkland and trees. As part of the plan, land used for stabling and the cross country course will now be part of a working farm and subject to the obligations under the single farm payment scheme for cross compliance to ensure that the area is maintained in good agricultural and environmental condition. In addition, the Estate will commence new tree planting to rejuvenate existing woodland to relate to the landscape of the early 19th Century.

In the interest of health and safety, and the high standard of presentation and organisation our sponsors, competitors and visitors have enjoyed at Bicton Horse Trials for the past 30 years, organiser Arthur Stevens has reluctantly cancelled the 2007 event.

how sad, such a fab event, really had an unbeatable atmosphere!

It is a shame but hopefully things will only get better for 2008. Another event to cross off my possibles list!

No Shipton Moyne got cancelled as Philip Tuckwell who owns the farm had an operation on his back and couldn't organise it as well.

Shame about Bicton that was my very first BE event. I think the SJ rumours might be true and if the stables for the BE event are affected they are the same stable they use for BSJA and the car park is the same isn't it?

yep stable and parking field almost exactly the same. although part of parking for BSJA is the XC warm up for BE! Also BE is normally only a few weeks after first BSJA of the season so I wouldn't be amazed to hear an announcement about BSJA Bicton soon enough especially considering all the rumours that have been flyinga around for the last 18 months!!

i have spoken to the eventing person who i am schooling a horse for her and she says it may never run again they may move it to powerdom castle which is near bicton...

they hve go a grant for tons of money for bicton so putting a car park next to the water jump etc which is such a shame i loved this place

im shattered as par ususal ha ha but least the pay is good! Ended up swapping clothes with Sarah tonight as I came straight to yard from work and had forgotten my jodhs! meant I got to ride and do some fantastic trot work even if her boots were a size too small!!!

bit off topic though! eeek i have to go to bed now early mornings and all that and also the fact i very very very nearly over slept this morning

I have not competed at Powderham since 1999 it was ok. Nice setting. If bringing back old events wish they would bring back Ston Easton!
