If a friend was thinking of online bidding on a horse going through the Brecon auction this weekend, what should she expect. Is it same day collection or do you arrange with the seller.. is there anything she should know? ?

She will need to read the auction catalogue. I don’t know about Brecon but usually it’s new owners responsibility to transport horse from auction that day.
Check for any buyers premium/ Vat as hammer price isn’t always total price.

At the auctions I have bought at you could leave the horse for one night and pick it up next day. I have done that at Doncaster bloodstock auctions but I would never leave a horse in a cattle market pen.

Provisionally call around a few transporters who will be at the sale to bring something back. Once bought the horse is your friends responsibility and the seller may not (likely won’t) stick around to make any arrangements. Whether the horse can stay overnight I’m not sure (I doubt it), but the auction house definitely won’t feed/water it so you’d have to find someone to do that too.

I didn't realise you could bid online at Brecon. If it is anything like Llanybydder the bidding is very, very fast and if the auctioneer is Welsh the accent will add a frisson of excitement.

I think at Brecon the seller provides a headcollar and that's it. Hopefully the transporter will have a rope.

A couple of nice horses going through - love the Connemara mare.

If I get my act together/not snowed in, I am going for a look round as thinking of putting some tack in the next one.

I believe there were technical issues with their online bidding last year? I think I’m right in saying that, please someone correct me if I’m wrong ?

I think at Brecon they need to be gone by that evening, they had a lot of problems on line at the last auction with people missing out on the horses they tried to bid on and off the top of my head they don't take phone bids

The live recording broke during the last sale which meant people could only bid in person. Hopefully they'll have it working smoothly this time.

Good to know! Fingers crossed it doesn't happen this time, if it does then that's just life I suppose. Worth a try and if there are issues perhaps he might no sale and then can be followed up outside the auction.

Mccartneys will take a £500 holding deposit on auctionmarts to allow her to bid so I'd register before the sale just in case it takes a while. They take it off the purchase or refund if you don't buy.
They usually expect teh horse to be transported on the day of the sale, though one of the guys that works there has a yard so it may be possible to arrange for the horse to go to there but would probably need to be arranged in advance.
The last couple of Brecons have had alot of entries that haven't come forward, especially ones that have been advertised on Facebook prior to the sale.
They will take phone bids if you contact them before 5pm Friday and leave you contact details and lot number. I bought my section D mare via phone bid last year.
