Some of you will remember beetle my big brown ex racehorse pony who I was lucky enough to get in april after falling in love with him at my previous job.
Well today after 5 months of ownership and only 6 months since he last raced my big brown baby went to our local show. The lady has 1 a year and it's a real family show. We arrived nice and early for our in hand class and big lad settled well and made a real effort in hand trotted up nice and straight no sillyness. Big class though and we weren't placed. It was mainly cobs and he is a big lanky tb with very high withers so all good
Had a long wait till his ridden class so took all his tack off and let him graze. Yesterday when I took him to look round he was unpleasant under saddle. Today he was good as gold. Walked round and stood nicely while the others did their show then he walked trotted and cantered on each rein. No sillyness at all and he came home with a blue frilly for second. He is now no longer the only horse on the yard to have never won a frilly. I'm over the moon with my awkward big pony, so proud I could cry. Next time we get out we'll find some jumping which is coming on well at home.
Pointless proud mummy post but my beetle pony is a super star. Omg i'd better up his insurance now he's a prize winner lol thanks for reading.
