big calf wellies

ive been looking for a welly with a larger calf fitting.

it looks like im going to be going with either a pair of hunters that have a gusset (is that the word im going for?) and therefore have a bit of give or some chemau (dunno how to spell it) ones that also have some give.

im not sure of my calf measurement.

I have 42" calves, so 5" smaller than yours it would seem, yet any boots that have a plastic/rubber/leather top, always come up small. I am a size 8 shoe and ANYTHING like Argyll and DEFINITELY Hunter, would cut off the circulation in my ankle, never mind my calf! There are a range of hunters which do have a large gusset in them but even they came up small on me.

The only really comfy, long-lasting welly I have found to stand up to my calfs (with more room if I wanted) is muck boots. You can get them in black, green, pink or purple and they have a waterproof, neoprene top which can be folded down to get on and off, so none of this heave-ho nonsense and a good yard boot in summer when you don't want sweaty feet!

What about these?

I have them and love them. The top bit is made from stretchy type material that justsits around large calves. But don't be fooled they are fully waterproof. Plus these are really warm in the winter but can be folded down in the winter. They have lasted me a year so far wheras my hunter wellies lasted about 6 weeks..

I always buy Administrator JR wellies, which are very good and have a 43cm top, I tried the Muck Boots and, while they fitted, were very snug and would start cutting off the circulation.
