Big cat sightings , again!

I've seen a panther in the woods I used to walk through to get to my old yard. This was a good 3/4 years ago though!

I am in Kent too and sincerely believe that I saw a black panther a few years ago, I was taking a cross country route and it was a bright moonlit night, definitely know what I saw. Many years ago we had a horse come in from the field (summer) with his rug ripped through with 3 shortish slashes, wide enough apart to be claws. Fortunately he only suffered minor cuts, but he was on his nerves for weeks and we could never ever get him into that field or past the trees bordering it. Luckily we moved.

The ones in Gloucester are lynx.Thre is a panther that ranges down the length of worcs possibly with a cub now but here ar so many deer around they are most likely hunting them.Funny that whenever the Panther is seen Bob from the Safari park is off with his dart gun..me thinks that is where its origins are :)

i saw one up the lane here the Monday before last. it crossed in front of my car, definitely wasn't a fox, much bigger than that, long black tail, moved like a cat not a dog. i like the idea that they're about tbh, as long as they're not taking my animals of course!
fwiw we had one around when i lived in Staffs and i did a bit of research about them. best ways to protect your stock: rugs on horses, and get the men in your life (or women if they really want to!) to wee around the perimeter, as the smell of a bigger carnivore 'scent marking' is allegedly a deterrent... ;) ;)

Today I heard that there have been 3 or 4 independent big cat sightings less than a mile from me. 3 of the 4 are within the last fortnight. I'm very pleased my lot are in at night. No wonder the small dog barks alot when she goes out at night!

Seems that it is probably a panther!

Blimey, that's a bit scary!! Any idea where it might've come from?
Is it Felix's big brother, do you think? :p

Foxes and Badgers aernt big enough to take down Deer but will eat the carrion of a dead one, their are the most Deer in the country at present since the norman conquest.
I spend a lot of time out lamping at night and have yet to see anything suspicious but a mate allegedly has had a BIG Cat Sighting but he is a legend in his own lunch box and we refer to him as the Terminator:D

Now where did I leave the BIG Cat Food here KITTY KITTY.

I saw one whilst out riding, i was stood sheltering under a tree in a storm, and it came out from under a fence, walked down the track and then went under the opposite hedge. Both horse and me were agog!! Fortunately, i have not seen it since, and this was nearly 15 years ago.

My dad saw one a month ago in Berkshire clear as day it stopped right in front of him and my OH also saw one in same sort of area in sept last year climbing down a tree there must be loads about judging by all these sughtings!

I'd love to see a big cat or see proof of one. Its always something that I've found fascinating. Doubt I'll see where I live though but if anyone has seen a big cat in cheshire let me know :D

OH and I saw one years ago in North Devon, close to but not on Exmoor. It crossed the road in front of us and we both just looked at each other wondering if we had actually seen it.

I'm kind of pleased that these animals are living in the wild, if the sightings are true.

There were loads of sightings several years ago near me East Herts, I thought I saw something this one time but was riding at the time so didn't hang around. There were dead sheep and all sorts found in trees at the time.

Thought it was only males wee??
I wee in the garden to keep the foxes out, it does seem to work as I couldn't expect my Mum to drop her draws in the garden !!
Don't think it would work either!
Oz :)

I've seen a big cat locally, twice in fact. In the Charnwood area of Leicestershire. One time it crossed the road in front of me, I was driving so had no chance to photograph. The next time,it was quite close to the first sighting. Was riding and my mare was really on her toes and looking at something moving alongside a hedgerow a couple of fields over. Looked again and realised it was the black cat again. After doing some research, I found that there have been many sightings of a black puma in our area. Most worrying though was that one night the horses in one of our mares field were completely wild. In the morning, several of the older mares had scratches down their haunches and back legs. One had been scratched so badly that her tendon sheath was seriously compromised.

Really...how do you know that?. You seen them?..

I'm in Norfolk and I saw one two years ago when I first moved here. I was on the phone and at the top of the next field I thought a black lab was running across it. However it moved like a cat. Bounding not running with a footfall like a dog does and it had a very long sleek tail. Can't say it bothered me much. I'm in no doubt it was a black cat. They are about and I think I'm very lucky to have seen one!

Never seen one but last year someone dropped a leaflet about big cat sightings into my yard. They were trying to coordinate info in our area. We found it funny cos our yard cat is huge & black but they must be about. We're in Sussex!

I saw one years ago in the woods here in West Sussex. My pony stopped and stared at something in the trees, wouldn't move an inch. I followed his gaze and saw a sleek black cat, long in body with a really long tail, size of a large dog but cat shaped. It clocked us and ran like an absolute rocket. Never saw it again since and never had any issues but a few people around that time said they had also seen it....very interesting reading all this!
