So tomorrow evening I am doing my first ever unaffiliated dressage competition on Breggey who my friend and I share - we've had her since the middle of March. We're just doing Intro A which is quite enough excitement for me! Going to bath her tomorrow, tack all clean and I have got my clothes all sorted. Breggey has only just turned 7 and is green but she's such a poppet - not expecting to do anything especially because most of the others are also doing Prelim and higher too BUT going to count it as a good learning experience for both of us. Just wanted to share!

I've been following your posts, Breggey looks and sounds an absolute darling :). I'm very much a newbie, done a few Intros on my RC horse although it's not really his thing... Do you have a caller? I rope in my instructor just so I'm not alone. Very good luck tomorrow, am really looking forward to reading about your adventure!

Thank you both of you!

Rumtytum, hopefully Breggey's owner will be calling my test but she has had sinusitis all week; hoping she'll be OK for tomorrow. If not I'm sure someone from the riding club will do it for me.

My instructor can't really do it as she instructs about another 3 of the 7 of us doing Intro so although she'll watch me she can't really call! I do know it apart from after the 2 x 10m half circles I really have to concentrate to remember to go back to walk for 4 paces before trotting off again .... which I could put a post it on Breggey's neck lol

Good luck, MofW! I'm sure someone will call the test for you.

Enjoy (and don't forget to breathe ;) )

We expect a report and photos if possible :)

I am very pleased to report that Breggey and I had a most successful outing this evening. There were 7 in our Intro A class (most of whom were in Prelim classes too) and I am thrilled to say that she was a superstar and we came 3rd!! I honestly didn't expect to get that; I know she can do a lot better and she did a really good camel impression at one point! She was a really good girl - coped with everything we threw at her including going through a spooky yard with farm machinery, loose horses very close by, horses riding close past her and even cantering around when she was doing her test. Pauline and I are over the moon with her. What's lovely is that the judge said she has a nice rhythm and when she is more confident to go forward and will accept a better rein contact I should get really good marks. Not bad for a horse that's just been driven over in Ireland up to a few months ago is it :)

My husband came to take some pictures etc but I haven't got them yet - here's one Pauline took which is us before we went in.

Congratulations! You did really well and look lovely together:). You're destined for bigger and better things but I think that yellow rosette will always have a special place in your heart.

Thanks everyone; still so proud of my little yellow rosette! It will definitely always hold a special place in my heart for sure. I have another dressage, Intro B, in 3 weeks time and will be getting in some more lessons. Canter work needs to be worked on (she was driven in Ireland so doesn't really 'do' canter easily) so got plenty to keep me busy! As for now, looking forward to a nice relaxing hack out tomorrow on my clever girl.
