...do they really act as a head-lowering aid? I can completely understand the concept - fluff impedes horse's line of vision when head is raised, so horse feels encouraged to lower it - but do they really work? It's not something anyone I know has ever used, so I'd be interested to know if anyone here has/does use them!

Now that would have been a far more interesting dissertation topic than horses jumping... damn!! IMO though it would have to be an exceptionally huge and fluffy noseband to really work to lower the head.

Yes, I used one for SJ on my event mare as about 3 stides out she would stick her head up and charge at the fence. The noseband helped her to stay round and keep her head low.

They are fab.

If they really are as good as everyone says, then it's sad that so many of us resort to draw reins/bungees etc beforehand.
