So this was my first foal, he was born on 29th April, so 2mths this weekend, but he's always looked very large, to me, especially as hes a MINI shetland, nothing very mini about him really :p
Just opinions really, I know you cant tell me if hes going to be enormous, or just fill out in time, but is it just me that thinks hes big? Mum is 32'' if not smaller, and dad is no bigger than 32'' either, but have a feeling hes a smaller one too..
(also a thread about him in the Breeding section, as im sure hes too mature for his age!)

No idea as the answer to your question.

But bundle him up, and pop him in the post to me. He is just the cutest!!!

:O What an awwwful place to keep a foal! I'm afraid I'm going to have to come and 'rescue' him straight away...in fact in precisely 8 months time I will come to rescue him! :D :D :D

haha he looks like he's having a blast :D What a lovely (was going to say little) big boy! :D Very very cute :D

Aw thank you! he is very cute if i say so myself lol! :o
Hes called Jimmy by the way (mummy called Jilly)

Looks like little Jimmy is a devil worshiper. (last picture, inverted cross hanging down on the wall).

Mmmm, even more reason to remove him from your care, and convert him to the good old Christian path :D

I don;t have any answers either but how on earth do you get any work done with such cuteness going on!!

His mummy has such a lovely little face!

Congratulations x

You are not the first person to say this!! how odd, i didnt even realise haha
yes, i am a bad mummy :( hehe

Thank you -Sj-, i do often just watch him in the field doing silly things like running upto any other horses and just jumping on them/into them.. silly thing!
And yeah, mum has such a lovely little face, especially now shes moulted out, she was a little fluffy too, well very fluffy :p

I agree amymay although can I borrow him for cuddles he looks like a big fluffy bear :)

he is incredibly cute, looks about the same size as my friends mini shetland colt who's a similar age. i was only commenting to her the other day how solid he seems! great time wasters though aren't they, i was playing tag with sherbert in the field the other day lol, well he has no fellow playmates so i played for half hour, he loved it. :D

haha poor Jimmy!

Ah, Ibblebibble, thats nice to know, i know hes not the smallest, and Jillys old owner did comment on how big he was and theyve never had a foal that big out of mummy or daddy!
Unfortunately hes the only foalie I have so i have to just play with him all day incase he gets bored :p
His aunties are younger, and one has just turned 3 and is very baby like still, but also more mature than him, so they play together and hes learning a bit too :D
(Aunties are both full sisters too, proper little family hehe :p )

He is fabulous, my miniature mare had a still birth earlier this year so it is so lovely to see a healthy happy little one! I also have a yearling and I don't think she is much bigger than your colt but they are so much fun and I spend hours playing with mine as she likes to jump as long as she is following me over the fence. Just as well I don't have close neighbours they would think I am mad. Enjoy him he is lovely.:)

Thank you!
Oh no how awful, so sorry :(
It always crossed my mind, especially being my first, but everything went well in the end, completely missed the birth too, checking at 2hr intervals and between 4 and 6am he was born and up and cantering round when i went to check :o:rolleyes:
haha, our two girls love playing around over poles, put them in the school with some out and they canter around over them for fun!
he jumps little things too, like filled haynets and the step into his stable, to avoid being caught lol
little orange pony, showing off her talented jump!, first time over a pole hehe :p

That is a great photo, mine hasn't jumped that big yet but we are working on it! Once I have figured out how to post photos will put some on of my two girls. Miniatures are delightful to own, never thought I would have one but I love them. Only bought mine last september so new to it all. Have had big horses for nearly 30 years but wish I could find a 15hh horse with the temprement of a miniature! Keep us posted on your boy.

Awww...mega cute... Desperately fighting the urge to say "I waaaannnnt him!" :D

Be careful thats how I ended up with my two little ones, saw my yearling when she was just 4 months old and fell in love with her so my OH bought her for me for our 25th wedding anniversay, couldn't just have the one though as my big horses didn't like her so bought her mum too. Would have loads more if OH would let me but he has put a ban on any more animals!:D

Goodness me, he is adorable!

My friend had miniture shetlands when we were kids, we used to lead them round like dogs. They have quite a jump on them if I remember rightly :D

My colt was 6hh when he was born and reached the same height as his Mum when he was 5 1/2-6 months old :o He's a part bred though. His Mum is a Shetland x miniature horse and is 35 inches tall and his sire was a sec A. (Not my idea to breed that combination :o ) My colt is now a 2yo gelding and is about 10.1hh, his full sister is 3yo and is 11hh. It's hard to believe they both came out of a tiddly little mare :)
