This is my first ever comp report on here and I'm being brave and posting vids so be gentle
First off was my boy Kane who has never done dressage before and has only been to 2 comps previously with me due to lack of large enough transport to fit him into and that was showing. This was also the first comp he has been to alone and he can be a bit of a wimp.
We entered Intro A and he was rather shell shocked by it all so behaved very well stared at everything and went round with his head up but didn't act as though everything was going to kill him (except the photographer sitting on a chair in the corner
)
Waiting to go in doing his if I don't look it can't get me face
Walking past the scary photographer
and intro A vid

Then he had a break and a munch
and I took him back into the warmup to get ready for Prelim 13 and this didn't really go to plan he was broncing in the warmup every time I asked for canter and we were THAT horse you know every comp has one that acts a complete t**t that was us lol. Mum wanted me to withdraw but I persevered went in and to be honest the test was pretty pants (as you will see) I let my stirrups down too far in the hope it would help if he started broncing but it meant my legs were pretty useless and a rode rather shoddily lol
Vid Prelim 13

as you can see luckily only 1 little buck but our canter was horrendous.
Went to find out scores and was amazed and delighted that we had actually come 5th in the intro with 60.43% with a comment at the end of 'pleasing accuracy & nicely ridden' so I was well chuffed but unsurprisingly we came last in the prelim with 52% but I was just glad we didn't have a temper tantrum in the test and survived
Then we did a quick change took Kane back to the yard and got my little ginger ninja B to do her tests.
B is much more used to competition and competes at showing regularly but this was only her second attempt at dressage and my second attempt too. We wanted to keep her and Kane seperate as otherwise she would have just screamed her head off which meant she couldn't enter the intro or prelim and so for some crazy reason I thought we would do the Novice and the Elementary having only ever done 2 prelim tests and coming last in both of them due to B thinking the fastest test wins lol
So I was aiming for the grand score of 25%
Warmed up for the Novice and she was just a little on edge as she came into season 2 days earlier and then took her down for the test.
Novice 24

She was quite tense in this one and broke canter and jogged a little in walk but it was much better than our first attemtp at dressage so I was pleased.
I didn't warm up for the Elem as we didn't really have that long in between as I was first in I was a little worried as nearly everyone else was in a double apart from us.
Elem 42

when we did the half 10 metre circles we were supposed to be doing counter canter (something we have practiced quite successfully at home) but she decided today she would throw in some flying changes oops.
So went to see scores fully expecting to be last in both but somehow had managed 7th in the novice NOT LAST yay with a score of 61.92% 1 point off of 6th place. We did however come 6th out of 6 in the elementary which I completely expected but got 59% which I was very happy with.
So next time Kane will just do the intro as his brain can't cope with two tests in one day lol and B will do the prelim and maybe Novice but not the elem lol.
Thankyou for reading my essay
