I have a 17h Irish draught who is very long;
Are there any horse trailers that he will fit in?
My friend has one that will carry up to 17h, but because of his length, he does not fit in.
Does anybody know of any make of trailer that cater for the bigger horse?

Thanks.

My friends long 17,1HH tb fit in my richardson supreme 2 x 17.2 trailer with ease and with my 15.2 also in, there was still room!!

I have never towed a trailer before, but do you think it would be possible to tow an ifor williams 150 with a ford focus 1.6 sport, with my 17h and possible a 14.2h in the trailer
Or would i need a larger car?!!

Im guessing i'd need a larger car to tow them!!

Thanks :)

MOST DEFINATELY NOT!

You wouldn't be able to tow any horse trailer with that never mind with horses in it. You need preferably a propper (i.e. not a poxy freelander) 4x4 (mainly to help you out in muddy conditions) or a large van (transit type) with a towing capacity of about 2 - 2 and a half tonnes...

ive never ridden before, but I now have a 13.2 pony that I got from beeston auction do you think it would be possible for me to event him
Im 6 foot tall and 14 stone ?? someone said I could get a ex race horse but I dont want to go fast if im learning oh and how much is the entry fee for badminton??? as I was thinking of having a go next year thanks

Our Shogun LWB 3.2 will tow a fully laden big trailer, and that is safe and legal, but even that struggles up a really steep hill! Also, there is no way I would feel safe towing in anything lighter. I know we are all safe if the weather turns nasty, or if the horses start jumping about, etc.

If exchanging your car to something like this isn't an option, how about looking into small lorries? I think there are plenty of older, but still OK ones for about £5K, and the bigger 2nd hand trailers often don't go for anything less than £3k.

Worth a thought?

We have 2 trailers which easily carry 17.2 plus - both of them Rice

One is a Rice treble - has Y shaped partitions which split and allow a pony to go in the front - fab for a hunting family or if you want space to carry tack and extra stuff to a show without putting it in your car

The other is a Rice with a little living/kitchen area at the front - got a gas hob and sink, with saddle rack :) this has had heavy duty long distance axles and flooring put in, and is really spacious

They both tow very well too

They belong to my OH and I'm being mean and making him sell them :( as I've got my lorry which means we never use the trailers.... he's sulking big time!
