Some of you may have read about our little incident with the flat back truck that reversed straight into me and josie the other day. Well I really didn't think it had bothered me. Josie was such a star. I've ridden her since but only in menage, again, normally what I do.

Today I went out for our normal big long hack with my best friend. Felt fine. Off we went laughing and joking, horses being horses.

I then saw a flat back truck thing, which looked exactly like the one that hit us. Went a bit funny but just carried on. Straight after 3 or 4 loud and fast cars came straight past us, and I lost it. All I can think of was it was a panic attack, but huge! I was sweating crying shaking, it was the noise of the cars that set me off.

We were an hour away from home so pulled myself together and rode on. But every slam of a door and ever close of a car boot, set me off. I was a quivering wreck by the time we got back.

My friend was fab, but I really could quite happily NEVER get on a horse again. Which really isn't like me at all. I adore Josie and she really is the safest thing on 4 legs. but after my antics this morning even she started having little spooks at stuff.

Anyone got any advice how I can nip this in the bud? I cant let this ruin everything again, not after I've just got all my confidence back.

Rescure remedy, & maybe some hypnotherapy to get you to focus on all the times you've ridden out & haven't had a truck reverse in to you. You could also try having a vehicle in the menage with you, & have friends opening doors etc, driving around, & eventually reversing towards you in a controlled enviroment. You could also try leading her out / long reining her on the roads (with a friend for moral support) so that again you are tackling the issues one at a time, ie re-gainig your confidence on the roads with Josie from a different perspective than being on her back.
Just take things one step at a time, & you'll be able to rebuild your confidence in stages.

TFT!!! And do it NOW - seriously, email Jo Cooper today and arrange for a session next week, will hopefully sort you out immediately (google jo cooper for her web address)

Big hug to you - horrble thing to happen and it does not suprise me that you are feeling fragile xxxx

I did think about TFT before, but never got round to it. Think this time I will need to. There is no way I can have another episode like today. thanks guys xx

Oh dear, poor you, did you manage to find out any details of the driver?

Unfortuatle no. But I wish I did after today I'd love to take Josie over there abd make him stand there while I trapesed all over him with Josie's shod feet!!!

I went and asked the shop about cctv but it doesn't cover the street and the owner seemed to think he could have been part of the local pikey gang that has turned up recently.

I am planning on goign for a TFT session - my friend split (got ditched!) by her partner after 6 years of bliss - she was a zombie for weeks - but after the session she was a new woman!! - I see a psychiatrist every week and doesn't do me any good - so what the hell go for it!!

josie - try some rescue remedy - take it in your pocket and when you feel shaky put a droipper full down your gullet

bach flower remedies are very good

btw - did you get anywhere with the CCTV ?

Wow didn't think of it working for things like splitting with OHs. Can see how it'd work though. Let me know how you get on x

I shall go get some today.

CCTV nothing. The shop owner said it only covers the immediate front of the shop not the road.
