Big Marty does Little Downham *with vids*

Well done to you and Marty. I don't know what it is about the SJ at LD but it either jumps well or causes absolute carnage. ALso the time on the XC does tend to be on the tight side their so you can't have done too badly :)

He looks super, some of those XC jumps are huge though ! Well done on a fantastic result :)

Thanks, jumptoit, he really was very laid back about it all so I'm thinking he's back to where we were before the rib-crunching fall - I'll breathe a huge sigh of relief if he is.

So you're not up for joining me in Extreeeeem Knitting then now you've got this Eventing lark sussed then?

Well done Smarty, sounds like he's really regaining his confidence. :)

And will you please stop handing out Ma Baydale's Crispy Cake as there will be none left by the time I get to you tomorrow. :p

I'm not sure that I should do anything "extreeeem" that involves sharp implements, not with my current bout of clumsiness. :o

Don't fret about the CC cake, there are two tins of it and SuperFran has only had a half day's go at it so far. :p

Fantastic result! It's the days when it comes together that keep us going until the next one. The placing was the icing on the cake. Very well done :)

Isn't it funny how sometimes you can get a result when you least expect it? :D I'd have been more than happy with a point for the double clear.

Well done on the placing, and the mental kicking - nothing worse than the feeling of impending doom, it really is horrible.

Have said it before and I will say it again, I do love Marty, and yes he deffo does look to be shrinking in the girth department :D

I don't very often get that feeling, thankfully, but it was a good exercise to try to turn it around (easy to say when you've had a good day, I know :p).

I'm pleased you like Marty: he tends to be overshadowed by the other two with their huge personalities.

Can't see vids (pah, work :() but I'm assuming OH no longer needs the wide angle lense? Go Smarty :D. Top work, it seemed to be the Weekend Of Strong Novice Tracks, so all points collected and prizes won are extra-speshul - nice one Kermit :D

OH needs a tripod, don't watch them unless you're wearing those anti-sickness bracelet thingys! Marty needs some of Mite's stressage skills please, seeing as her diet tips have worked a treat. :D

Well done to you n Marty he looked great, we were stood waiting when u sj'd due to the delay 21 to go before me!! Marty jumped v well that course caused soo many problems there were a large number with 20+ pen, think it was a great day for the hho'ers my boy got his first shiny big boy point even managed to stay on our dressage score woop didnt realise we were the only ones of both novice sections to do that eekk!
oh n yes we were parked nxt to u at houghton :)

Well he made that look easy didn't he? :D

What made you change from the Verbindend for the dressage? Just interested really as I think they are brilliant and do really help the lightness in front without any sensitive mouth hysterics :p the ordinary angled tranz lozenge in the thin version might suit him?

Oh - and before you think you have got away with it - I know what you are doing with those queasy video shots, thinking if you make everyone feel sick then they won't want Mummy B's cake so you can scoff the lot? Well you are wrong there lady - I'm never too sick for cake EVER - so pass it over ;)

Didn't he just, in his usual "yeah, whatever" way. :D

Funny you should say that about the thin tranz lozenge as I tend to swap between that and the Verbindend for all of them. I just thought I'd try the nathe as he jumps so well in anything with a nathe mouthpiece. My latest plan is to ride him in a double more and just use a snaffle for comps, so watch this space.

it's not a ploy to make everyone sick, honest. Dare I say that the choc crispie cake isn't my most favourite thing, not that that's why I'm giving it away. ;)

Well done - BM is definitely looking more streamlined, he made it look easy aswell.

Glad Jup is on feeling better now :D Finally sat on my Jup a couple of times, theres no stopping us now!! (Eventing has even been mentioned but i like to keep all my feet on the floor so will stick with the dressage next year unless he looks like hes going to be the next Tamarillo!!!) :p :D

He's looking really fab, taking it all in his stride. And looking more streamlined too! Well done for such a good result too, the doom-laden feeling thankfully was a red herring :)

OH needs a tripod, don't watch them unless you're wearing those anti-sickness bracelet thingys! Marty needs some of Mite's stressage skills please, seeing as her diet tips have worked a treat. :D

I'll not save these for watching on the train then, your OH + Mr Bransons tilt trains does not sound like a match made in heaven....

Unfortunately it seems the super-smart-stressage-scores were directly related to rideability... :o And now, the more athletic we feel (the absence of equine "bingo-wings" helps ;)) the less, ahem, rideable we are :( :D. I'd ask elsewhere for stressage tips if I were you........! I'll see you & Smarty at MK, where I'm sure we'll be eminently spottable, if only for the active athleticism in all the wrong places..... ;)

He looks great, streamlined definately (I'm sending Pig to your fat camp), relaxed certainly. I see what you mean about the dressage but it looked much better to me. Lovely SJ round, well done on the clear as they were certainly hard to come by. Great that he was so good over the XC, he's a big grown up boy now :)

Sorry you were feeling down, hope you are back to your usual whirl of positivity very soon. Congrats on the point and the frilly!

Nx

At Camp Baydale we can do either: fatten 'em up or slim 'em down. :p

It's taken a while to get it all in place and there's still a lot of work to be done, but it's so nice to get a little reward for my efforts now and again. ;)

Isn't Marty clever?! The XC all looks very easy for him, despite him apparently doing it on a ship, really nice (though had to not watch the last one as felt a bit ill!).

He'd like to think he is, yes, just doesn't make a big deal about it like the other two! :p Sorry for any heaving you may have experienced. :o

Big congrats on the DC, I reckon you deserve to keep the vino & cake all to yourself (and def none for the other half as judging by those last vids he already had a head start on the wine :D) Your reports do always make me chuckle :) No mean feat over those jumping courses on sat either so a double pat on the back!

Think I was parked behind you actually as def caught a glimpse of the Kermit green and the svelt like Marty but alas, by the time I had dragged myself to do battle with I115 I was too late to say Hi....either that or you knew I was heading back and made a swift getaway :p

OH did warn me that his filming was a bit iffy but that he'd tried to get as much of my round as he could. How could I criticise when he'd gone to so much effort? :p

What a shame I missed you, I hope you had a good day? :)

So after your brain-training game that was remembering the eventers GP course at Houghton here you appear to have a show-jumping course that only involves cantering to the right?! One left turn that I saw! Looking good anyway ;).

Very true, the right rein being the one where Marty will swing his quarters violently to the left if you're over-zealous with the half halts, hence my forward forward and even more forward round. ;)

Can I just say that I am SO JEALOUS of the size of your SJ arenas in the UK at ODE's here for some reason the DR warm-up and arenas tend to be set in an aprox 50ha field and the SJing (warm-up and ring) crammed into an area margianlly larger than your average loose box...

Well done on the point and placing :) and over coming your impending doom. Can you not ask the Dr's for the equivalent to the Felix Felicis potion in HPotter?

Does 8th get a pretty coloured ribbon? cause that the important bit right... ;)

Regarding the XC vids -ARGH mine eyes! Was your OH cantering round on a horse himself??? However shouldn't complain my groom refuses to film  The green & brown blur looked awesome and very neat in all the videos and the log after the corners  was it really that big!?

PS What has Jup done? I hope its not serious.

Your jealousy has been noted and I will return the compliment when we next have monsoon-like weather whilst you're putting another prawn on the barbie. :p I do have some homeopathic stuff for nerves but I'm not sure it extends to impending doom-ness unfortunately.

We got a green bit of ribbon, just not the right green (as Chloe_GHE would say).

I like the way OH panned from the bottom upwards of the ditch palisade before the water, just to make you appreciate how big it was (he got extra Brownie points for that ;)) The log was big-ish, yes, it must have been one helluva a tree they felled to get that. :p

Oh Jup is fine, we think he probably tweaked his back being naughty (climbing on the lockers in the lorry, I reckon:mad:) as he lost the ability to move his hindlegs properly - much to his disgust as he's normally so active with them... He's mended now and feeling good ie. irritatingly spooky.

Poor Marty is fading away- there'll be nothing left of him soon! We were vaguely discussing Lt. Downham being a first Novice for Reg next year... Having watched that and read your description, I think that the entry (if it's made) will be mysteriously lost somewhere! Well done on the 8th and the shiny points.

He surely could swap at the Teachers Pet points he's collected for an extra meal or something- like a reward scheme? I'm sure I can remember my primary school teachers running points thing and if you got 10, you got to pick a treat from the special box (although they were pencil sharpeners and pencils and rubbers...) :D

Thanks, Lolo, but don't you side with Marty, I want to see ribs!!! You could use it as a first Novice as there are long routes but I can think of nicer ones tbh.

Marty would like to swap his points for polos, the sugar-free variety of course. :D

Everyone. Needs. To. Step. Away. From. Marty.

:D

Good stuff. He does make the corners look easy. :)

But what WAS your OH doing???? I couldn't quite believe he'd agreed to chauffeur AND record for posterity, so I'd agree, it's all part of a nefarious plan to never be asked to do it again! ;)

Marty would like to be yours, he's heard that you don't have to work too hard nor too frequently. ;)

OH was heard to say to someone that it was payback time after all I do for him in the hunting season. :D

Big well done on the DC and 8th. I hate the "impending doom" feeling too, though to be fair as I tended to get it most times when I was competing I just thought that was how you were supposed to feel. Marty certainly didn't seem to be worried and looked to be eating it up (so to speak!). Love the streamlining - he'll be getting go-faster stripes painted on soon.

On a diet at the moment so I'll pass on the wine and cake just to prove to myself that I can resist temptation.

Thanks, Dollysox, I don't think I'd do it if I felt like that every time. I normally tell myself that I'm not nervous, I'm excited. :D

Marty may need his fitness work stepping up soon, you can imagine how delighted he'll be about that...

Fab result, Well Done :D

Showjumping round looked lovely especially if it was causing carnage.

Couldn't really watch the XC, a bit to much sea sickness for me!!!!!!! :D

Thanks, SW66, I couldn't believe my luck when he jumped so sweetly. :)

I quite understand about not being able to watch the xc; don't worry, I'm not easily offended. ;) :D

Well done to you and Marty. I don't know what it is about the SJ at LD but it either jumps well or causes absolute carnage. ALso the time on the XC does tend to be on the tight side their so you can't have done too badly :)

Thank you, OIAM. They always seem to be stiff tracks there, must be the course builder I guess. I think Marty is deceptively ground-covering and because he doesn't pull I think he's not going very fast. :o

Well done to you n Marty he looked great, we were stood waiting when u sj'd due to the delay 21 to go before me!! oh n yes we were parked nxt to u at houghton :)

Woo hoo, well done you. :D I did see your name in the results but not until I looked at them at home. You must introduce yourself next time, it's embarrassing that I've managed to 'ignore' you twice now. :(

OH did warn me that his filming was a bit iffy but that he'd tried to get as much of my round as he could. How could I criticise when he'd gone to so much effort? :p

What a shame I missed you, I hope you had a good day? :)

Well absolutely, you have to treat these chief filmers with complete care and consideration else they won't come back! :p

Yes we had a good day thanks, finished in that slightly annoying 11th...damn those pesky time faults :D

Thanks, Tempi. I'm sure your Jup will be a walk in the park: mine is the product of a feisty dam and a sire with a sense of humour so it's not too surprising he's how he is.

i reckon he is, watching that's made me feel seasick. v v well done on a really positive day (in spite of your Cassandra-ness in the morning).
mmm virtual choccy cake, don't mind if i do...

Damn you and your depth of knowledge of all things Greek - I had to google Cassandra (I blame my Secondary Comprehensive - oh the irony - education :p). Virtual choc crispie cake is winging its way, Hermes-like;), to you. :D

I'll not save these for watching on the train then, your OH + Mr Bransons tilt trains does not sound like a match made in heaven....

No, definitely don't watch them on something that's moving, your inner ear will never cope. ;)

I can't believe you're complaining about Mite's active athleticism when she is clearly sooooo delighted to be back eventing. :p Welcome to my world. :o

Well absolutely, you have to treat these chief filmers with complete care and consideration else they won't come back! :p

Yes we had a good day thanks, finished in that slightly annoying 11th...damn those pesky time faults :D

OH only gets dragged out on one horse days, for all other days I need someone younger and quicker... ;) :D

Methinks you and I need to take the handbrake off! :p
