I just wanted to let you know how kind and how greatful i am too brighteyes ( gilly) and simon ! they took the time out to come see me and daphi,and gave me loads of really good advice!

As for daphi.... it would seem she isnt ever going to be some great riding horse

problems with her legs etc... but i still love her to bits. and the biggest lesson ive learned in all this is make sure ( if there is a next time) I get the horse properly vetted before i buy! poor daphi

Have been following yours and Daphi's story and really nice to hear that someone has taken the time to come and help and that you accepted that offer of help (and have thanked them!). Well done to you all (Brighteyes etc)

Do you have any photos of Daphi? It would be nice to see her in flesh so to speak

daphi was giving me problems and i just wanted somebody with experiance to come see her. so brighteyes offered! Turns out i probably paid too much for my horse AND it would see she has some damage on her legs... Im not sure now what ( sorry forget exactly) but it would seem her legs arent in great condition.

it makes me mad! really mad! it isnt about the money....to hell with that. its more to do with somebody selling on a horse to me knowing full well she isnt in great shape! I know i should of had a vet out. but its too late to say that now after the fact. Ive a good mind still to go back and see that bleeding con woman!!!!
 
She looks like she's been denerved or had her tendons fired. It doesn't mean her legs are knackered though, she could stay sound for the rest of her life.

As for people selling a horse that wasn't 100% I'm pretty sure it's not the sellers place to give you a full run down of the horse's medical history and any issues that may arise in future due to previous problems it's had.

I maybe wouldn't call her a con woman for selling a horse for more than it's worth and not handing you all the info on a plate, that's just how most people sell horses. You need to have experience or take expeienece to make sure you are getting something worth it's price etc.

Hope you can get more help on getting her going nicely, it all takes time and patience but I'm sure she'll come good in the end!
 
yeah i guess that was a little harsh.... but anyways shes already come good for me. I love her to bits and it doesnt really matter now anyway

Can I ask, what is probably going to sound a stupid question. But how can you tell form that vid she may have been denerved?

Not being picky, it's just my girl has just had the PSD op, and everyone says, they wouldn't be able to tell, I'm hoping to show her. Thought if it's obvious to a 'trained' eye it might be wishful thinking?

Not entirely sure de-nerved, but a front tendon has seen some damage. Agree on the soundness and I never said she was in major discomfort, just didn't find moving over the local terrain easy and this needed to be considered. I'd like to see her walking out on the flat. In her demeanour, despite a slightly 'unconventional' movement, she overtracked equally in walk and wasn't reluctant to move. Her face showed nothing except gentle curiosity and normal alertness, except when inside munching, where she appeared completely relaxed and happy.

'Caveat emptor', and all that implies, as I also explained to jordanross, it's just a little too much trust in situations and he fell for the horse. Never happened to any of us before?

Yep, see above and if he is happy with her (as she most certainly is with him) then as he points out, what's the money got to do with it? I wouldn't pay £1000 for puppy, nor £150 for a meal out somewhere, but people do and it's up to them if they think it's worth it

What a lovely post to make Jordan. Brighteyes certainly is a lovely forum member.

It may be worth getting the vet to give her a lameness workup now that you've established there is some problem. You can then start on the road of finding out exactly what.

Can I say, once again, how beautifully you keep her. And it looks like she now has you wrapped round her little finger

She looks a lovely mare Jordan, I wish you lots of long and happy hours with her, and Brighteyes, you are a complete star imho!

Wasjosiejo, don't worry, you will still be able to show your mare, fwiw for someone to be able to see this mare had been denerved from a few short seconds of video defies belief, unless of course, they have x-ray vision!
