Just had the fright of my life today, I've been laid up after a major operation and so my OH has been going down to see to our horses which are kept at grass livery (we're the only liveries) a short distance from home.
Well this afternoon I got a phone call from a very worried OH that my daughter's welshie was not in the field with the others and that our bottom fencing was partly down but that the post and barbed wire fencing beyond that belonging to the neighbours was completely trashed and down on two sides - at this point my heart was in my mouth imagining all sorts
15 minutes later OH found a very sorry for himself pony stuck shivering in a ditch full of water with his snuggy hoods sweet itch hood some how pulled over his head so he couldn't see a thing.
By the time a very kind friend (thank you Kim!) has picked myself and my daughter up and dropped us off down there my OH had with some help managed to get ponio out of the ditch and back home. Poor boy was in shock, cut to pieces and very lame on all four legs.
We got the vet out and got him cleaned up as best we could (poor boy was still scared stiff) he had to have a gash in his chest stapled and has swellings, cuts and bumps all over his legs, chest and neck and managed to get him settled for the night. All in all we were just grateful as it could have been much worse
Now my daughter is a BHS gold member so has the public liability insurance but due to the time we couldn't get hold of anybody to find out if they will pay out for the damage to the fencing as the owners are understandably very p****d off and I need to know asap so I can get it sorted out. If we're not covered then we'll have to find the money from somewhere but God knows where
I don't think 2010 is a very good year for us, we've had a few "blips" and a couple of weeks ago my son wrote my car off (third party insurance) and so I also need to find the money for a new car in a few weeks when I'm well enough to start driving again....I just feel like hibernating until 2011 at the mo lol.
If anyone knows about the BHS insurance I'd appreciate it so I can actually get some etonight lol!
