I just wanted to say a big thank you to all the barefoot gang on here. Today I looked at my horse's feet and he's finally getting heels!!! :) :) It has been a long, slow and often soul destroying process but I feel like all my hard work is beginning to pay off.
I first took my now 21 yr old TB barefoot approx 4 yrs ago, not through choice but he had, you guessed it, 'typical tb feet' and my blacksmith virtually gave up on him :(. He kept taking my horses toes back too far, making him lame, despite me asking him to trim very gently.
I decided to 'go it alone', did a lot of research, picked a lot of brains on here, read ALL posts containing the word barefoot! Gone is my once field bound horse and in his place is a horse who is happy on most surfaces except for those nasty little sharp stones that jump out every now and again.
So a massive thank you to you all sharing your knowledge and helping me keep my beautiful horse sound :)

That's so good to hear. It was due to the people on here that I took my TB barefoot as well when she was diagnosed with navicular. I'm now doing a little bit of competing again and have one happy horse! It's a good feeling isn't it?

Thank you MrsD :)
Holly, it's the best feeling when you do things right :) well done for being brave enough to do it as I have had people trying to persuade me to go back to shoes, but I knew in the long term it would be the wrong thing to do

Well done :) it's such a great feeling isn't it when you read, take what you need and apply it and it works :)

My boy is now sound on just about everything and his hooves make a very satisfying clopping noise on the roads now :)

Very well done :)
