Hi all

I recently put a post up, about me hating and fearing canter due to a couple of really bad falls/experiences

I was over wealmed by the amount of responses it got and the variety of advice offered.

Just wanted to say that last Thursday I took the plunge and went for a hack and did some small canters - which though I hate to admit it I actually enjoyed a little bit - think the horse did too

I was nervous enough in the school, without even considering trying it in the great outdoors....the even better news is that I went on the hack on the very horse I had the bad falls from....and I came back into the yard with the biggest smile on my face.

Now thats not to say that canter is my best friend but it just goes to show you that sometimes you have to face your fears and go for it

Thanks again everyone the advice and support really helped

Glad it's working out for you. I've been there and it's not nice at all! I still prefer to canter uphill if at all possible but have overcome any problems with cantering in the school so it definitely can be done.

Keep up the good work :)

Was so lovely to read this! I have a huge fear of open spaces, let alone cantering in one.

So glad you have made progress with your fear. Hopefully I can too :)

Make sure you keep of posted on your progress! A huge well done from me! X

Well done! I've had before and am having similar issues again at the moment. But I much prefer cantering on a hack because you don't have to go round corners so much! I fell off cantering round a corner in the school once, to this day don't now why I fell off though, so quite paranoid about it.. I'm going to have a look at your previous thread now.

What a great post! Well dont for making such great progress:D i have a fear of cantering out on hacks (primarily as i have pretty dodgy brakes out in the great wild world...) but it is soo great that you have found ways to start getting over your fear and progressing, heres hoping i can be as brave and wack my brave pants on soon!
