I always like to let people know when I try something/someone new and am impressed by them - we are all quick to slag off poor service, but not everyone is as eager to praise the good!

I've been dreading getting the dentist out to Ellie - her last experience (a couple of years ago, yes I know I have been negligent

We used to have a guy come out to us who was excellent and Ellie never gave him any trouble, but then we moved house and he was reluctant to travel out any further, so we went to a guy recommended by my instructor.
It was totally different to anything I was used to - instead of doing her loose in a stable or barn they put her in a crush, and Ellie being Ellie, she panicked because they werent exactly gentle when they started and they ended up twitching her and holding her in a headlock

She wasnt hit or anything, but they were just very rough with her

I was extremely worried that this experience would then make her play up next time, as she isnt one to forget things easily...

Anyway, a lady at the yard had booked Toby from Equine Dental Services to come and do three others, so I tagged Ellie in as well. He was absolutely excellent, very calm yet thorough, and far from being a nightmare, Ellie was actually the best behaved horse at the yard! I was very impressed, and will definitely be using them again

They are based in Somerset but Toby said they travel both nationally and internationally, so if anyone is looking for a dentist recommendation, here's their website:

He was with Ellie for about 40 mins (she needed a fair amount of work as she'd not been done for a while) and he charged £60

I thought that was good - he had come out to do four so I would assume the call out fee was less, but I was still expecting it to be more than it was!
