my eventer has been diagnosed with bilateral hind limb lameness associated with moderate psd. I was told there was nothing the vets could do so either retire him or to try to rehabilitate him.
But I have been reading on here and have found out there is a possibility to operate on him. does anyone know of a reason why he wasn't offered this ? could it be that he drops his fetlocks slight more then a normal horse? if so why would this be a problem?

PSD cases can be operated on successfully (at least, short to medium term) via neurectomy and fasciotomy. However, it may be that your horse has other issues that make this process likely to be not worhtwhile. Also, the age of your horse may play a significant role in the decision of your vets. More information required! :)
