Here we are having a lesson. I know there is lots wrong with the picture so will be hoping to post one in a few months where I have all parts of my body - especially my head! - in a better position and he is tracking up properly and working over his back....

But he is such a little dude. After huge confidence knocks I feel really safe with him - even hacked out alone today (last time I came off previous horse & got concussed) - OK I did have to sing 'He who would Valiant Be' all the way round but we did it!

The only bad thing is he came with some free extras - a coat full of lice - so far he has had louse powder (not that helpful) and 1 treatment of deosect, and I am being advised to have him fully clipped and hogged to help clear them up.

Anyway bit pointless but just cos I am dead happy :) and also happy to have any more pointers on riding better and how to get rid of our little visitors!! :)

Thanks :) he IS lovely

Yes wallykissmas it is Pine Lodge - there is no mistaking that hedge! Its not their fault I ride crappily they do try!!!! My daughter has been there every day this week and thats what I need but sadly work gets in the way :)

It's such a nice feeling when you feel safe on one. It's all about building blocks. Have fun and get all your confidence back. People don't turn into Mary king over night :) he looks a sweety though.

Ha yes I sat here think no where in Norfolk Has a hedge like that .... It has to be. I'm sure after some lessons with Sue or Alex he will be able to piaffe and shoulder in etc like a pro !!

A happy post is never pointless. Chuffed to pieces for yoi :) re added extras. chat to your vet. They will (should) advise you. More updates with photos demanded :) x

Lovely cob. I recognized the hedge too, we got a TB off Sue B about 8 years ago. Deosect is good, but remember to do it again in a couple of weeks and then again in two more weeks. Deosect wont kill all the eggs so you have to kill each successive generation.

He's lovely though a shame about the lodgers, I'm no expert but to the untrained eye your head is at the top, your feet are the bottom and you and Bilbo are both facing the same way, for me that's a result :)

haha! That is great! Head has not always been at the top!!

Thanks for others' comments about the saddle - I will act on that next time I get on. Also thanks for all the advice about the lodgers!! I dont like a hogged mane either but think it may be the answer for now and then I will let it grow back.

:D still feeling happy :D

I wouldn't hog him, mainly as I don't think he'd suit being hogged. Just keep treating him for lice, deosect is good stuff but you do need to repeat it.

And, although you probably already are, remember to keep disinfecting and de-lousing all of his grooming kit, tack and saddle pad or those little eggs will be back pronto!

You look so fabulously happy - I cannot wait for this to be me in a few weeks time!
