I am thankful I don't have a heart condition because if I did I would surely be dead by now.

The bins in our village haven't been collected for over a week so everything has left their bins out on the side of the road and they are a variety of colour, shape and size. This morning there was a piece of flappy plastic snaking from one side of the road to the other - bit like haylage wrap and we couldn't possibly go past it so we had to turn round and go the other way only to be confronted by giant green bin monsters hiding round every corner.

I was only thinking on Sunday how well behaved my little 5 year old bog pony was when he hardly spooked at anything. Today, because of snaky plastic, we couldn't go up the side road out of the village to trot up hills so had to do main road through two villages. The sooner the binmen come, the more relaxed I might feel about exercising!!

We usually ride round the estate and have miles of off road riding to do before work but can't because its too hard. Surely if we can all get to work and have done for the last 2 weeks then the binmen could come and collect our bins. After all, we do pay council tax for the privelige!!

Sorry for moan - just wanted to vent a little bit!!

I personally have not been able to get to work last week and the roads in my village were most definately not a safe place for a refuse lorry to negotiate. Even though the main road is now clear, the side roads are definately not safe, so I think you need to be more patient.

Our bin men came this morning for the first time since last year. We've just had to put up with it annoyingly but the bin men have instead been working on the gritters which round here is more important at the moment.

My bin men have been once I think since Christmas, and very nicely took our bins from over the fence in our front garden. I am lucky because they know me but...

mine have been collected once in the last 5 weeks. no recycling has been collected in that time and the bin men will only take what's in the wheelie bin, which is about 4 black bags.

We haven't had bins since before Christmas, and I most certainly would not be able to hack out - I can't even get a lorry out of the yard, let alone a horse - very dangerous. Not riddend since before Christmas.

All our roads are fine in our part of Dorset. Hardly had any snow at all.

I assume therefore that our binmen are gritting elsewhere in the country and will let them off!! But I will be very grateful when they finally do collect the bins. I'm sure it can't be hygenic having bags and bags of rubbish out on the pavements for animals to scavenge through.

My bins haven't been collected for 5 1/2 weeks now. Including recycled waste. Its piled up outside my front window - 9 black bags. The road outside my house has been clear every day except 3, and those were at weekends. I don't think its unreasonable to expect a local authority to continue to provide basic services such as refuse collection alongside road clearing. One accepts that refuse collection might be disrupted, but to abandon it altogether is just unacceptable. We only get bin bag collection once a fortnight anyway so if one is missed, its chaos. It just isn't good enough! I would so much rather be able to opt out, as I do with sewage and water, and pay a private firm to collect my rubbish.

So what? Many people have not had bins emptied for weeks. Many binmen are out gritting. Many do not get them emptied weekly anyhow.

Now, what was your problem

In fact, I have so much uncollected rubbish, I wouldn't even be able to fit it in my car to take it to the public dump myself. I'd have it in the boot, on the rear seat, on the passenger seat, and even then it might not all fit! My neighoburs have a family, they are seriously worried about becoming an environmental hazard!
