as title really - looking to invest in some new reins when i get paid and just wondering what experience you guys have of the above or it you can reccommend any others :)

ginger snaps and tea on offer :)

I've use eventa reins both everyday and when competing (SJ and XC) and they have been fine. My everyday sets have lasted for years without any problems.
I'm trying to think but don't think I've had any problems when wet but i do always wear gloves

Not tried the bio grip ones so can't help, sorry

Bio grip all the way. I'm completely converted, but it's a PITA because I hate riding in any other reins now!

Townfields Saddlery (I think it was them) do a really good imitation of the Jeffries ones, cheaper. I have both, and they are as good as each other.

I have the Eventa grip ones and love them. I have them on both my bridles, one pair are ancient and are still going strong. Never had a problem with them being slippery, in fact I think they are grippier than my old bog standard rubber reins. I've hunted with them on a strong horse in horrible weather and our lack of brakes had nothing to do with slippy reins!
Although I have heard certain brands of gloves don't work well with the,. I just can't remember which brands! :o I have Tredstep and Roekl gloves, and both seem grippy enough.

I have a pair of each! I love the bio grip for everyday riding, however I wouldn't use them for XC as I think they look a bit flimsy (I have the Jeffries ones) Im sure i'm probably just being a bit OCD though!

So for XC I have the eventa reins (mine came from Albion), which are fab, really grippy, even when wet. IMO they look a bit more sturdy than the Biogrip.

Bio Grip for def, I don't like having a massive handfull of reins.

First time I tried them (on a horse I was trying for a friend) I sort of fell in love and went home and raided my savings to get some straight away (Ridaway do the Jeffries ones).

I think they are pretty sturdy as they have tough nylon running through them (like reinforced stirrup leathers)

I have the Barnsby version. I admit I only looked at the Barnsby and Jefferies versions but I choose these because they were slightly thinner (I have small hands and usually use half rubber dressage reins for everything) and the bobbles were larger so I thought I would have more grip. I use them for everything, including hunting and so far I have found that they are excellent. They do give a differnt feeling as they are so soft but it is easy to get used to.

hmmm decision decisions!! i liked the eventa ones for ages and loved the feel of them. However had rode in my friends bio grips and thought they were quite nice but was worried (like you charlimouse) about going XC in them as so thin - still no closer to making up my mind??

wonder if i can buy both! hope my OH doesnt read this!

biogrip by a mile....found the eventa ones bulky, became slippy when worn and hopeless in the rain.

have the biogrip ones on all my snaffle bridles, and as the snaffle rein on all the doubles.

free spirits saddlery on ebay do a good budget version, think they are called flexi reins or something, cost about £16 and are basically tehesame-pimple rubber with a nylon core, so very flexible and soft but super grippy. a good alternative to the expensive jeffries biogrip, i have one pair on my jump bridle and find them just as good :)

thanks PS "tootles off to ebay" :)

maybe can buy a pair from ebay for home bridle and jeffries for comps/lessons! (tis my hard earned pennies anyways! - might as well spend them :D )

I have the eventa reins I bought with the Elevator bridle about 5 years ago. I like them very much, but the rubber has spilt on one side leaving about 4'' of webbing showing. My old Stubben rubber reins, about 9 years old and used as much as the Eventa ones, are still going strong.
For the price, I won't be getting more Eventa's.
