9 weeks post op and we're making plans for her to return to agility. :D Two more weeks of increasing off-lead exercise and fittening then providing all is well we're to return steadily to her usual level of work. Ridiculous really but x-rays were fab and showed almost complete bone growth between the artificial fracture and she's been consistently sound even after increases in exercise to date. Still doing lots of swimming and being pumped full of supplements but in terms of walking and free running she's already back to pre-op levels.

A few from today - plus R being his usual speshul self - this is what I get for shouting 'down!' when I've spent all week teaching him the whole 'bang!' dead dog thing...

Note leg coming out when sitting - this will be a permanent feature but doesn't seem to cause her any bother.

I'm all the way down mum!

Wonderful news, what a recovery, you must be thrilled, onwards and upwards.

The photos are great, I love the dead dog lol, I cant believe they havnt eaten that ball ,it wouldnt last 2 minutes with mine.

Such cruelty, only having a couple of acres to zoom on and to be trailing such a big heavy piece of nylon all the time. :p

To be fair to them this field is loads more secure than our old one and there's been no escape attempts but there's an evil dog-kicking shetland up in the top corner behind the electric fence and my neighbour's horses behind the treeline so I like to have something within stomping distance just in case.

It has been an amazing recovery, she was touching the foot down as soon as she was awake from the op and significantly weight bearing within 48 hours. Apparently this is the advantage over the TPLO where they sometimes hold the leg up for weeks (I had been reading the blog of an agility bod whose collie x had a TPLO, she held the leg for a long time but returned to competitive agility within a few months and competed at the WAO this year). Even so I think she represents a new record for the vet in terms of return to full function.

DG it's only R who has any interest in a tennis ball, Dax the Destroyer leaves it alone so they survive for a number of weeks. ;) If I lose one in the field I send the YO's GSDs in to find it, whereupon it gets munched.

Speshul dog only has room in his brain for one idea at a time. We lost a trophy this weekend (to that bloody black standard poodle again, if MM is reading this!) and the big shiny silver tea tray is up for contest again on Saturday so there's another bath in his near future if anyone is wondering how he's so white. :p

A brilliant recovery, you must be delighted. The TTA certainly does seem to be the much better surgery option.:)

ETS. Maybe we could nobble that poodle in some sort of pincer movement if its ever at a show we are both at.

I had a schedule through the post last week for Whixall, let's hope she shows there. :p It's now four best in shows to her and two to Ricoh, she was reserve to us both those times. I've no doubt she'll be there on Saturday, shame as I wanted the tea tray back for another year!
