Doesn’t anyone use one? How do you find them to handle? I have a rope one and an pretty adept at reeling it in and out but in this wet weather it’s pretty unpleasant. So biothane seems a good alternative. I’m thinking about a 20m line so we can work on recall from a greater distance (young collie is feeling rather independent at the moment!). Not sure if 20m in biothane would feel like an awful lot to handle?

I use a length of climbing rope bought from an outdoor shop finished with a climbing carabiner, and wear lightweight gardening gloves with waterproof palms. Not sure how it would stand up to the molars of a determined dog but it is much tougher than off the shelf lines.

Biothane is brilliant; I still use MacWet gloves or similar though in order to have the necessary grip. Biothane doesn't catch/snag on as much undergrowth as a rope and you can use it for waterwork.

This is what we ended up doing for Daisy, cheap to replace the rope as an when needed - though this one has lasted 2 years so hopefully we're through that phase 😂

My OH would have a fit if I used our expensive climbing ropes for the dog! The one I have is similar but holds too much water and muck. I’ll give biothane a try.

Haha, so would mine! I just get a measured length from gooutdoors or similar 😂
