Thinking about giving my boy biotin or an all round mineral supplement but which should I chose? Usually feed him the codlivine supplement over winter but didn't this year. I'm sure it's due to the wet and state of the fields but he usually has really good feet and the other day he has pulled off a front shoe taking half his inside wall with it:( He is now just fed hay and fast fibre on its own. Just not sure wether to buy straight biotin or go for the all round supplement ?!

I personally feed the top spec comprehensive balancer which has biotin in, he looks great on it and I will be keeping him on their products.

I used to use calm and condition as well as a load of vitamins and minerals and biotin seperately, i think the top spec is more cost effective too.

My horses' feet have improved more by using an all-round balancer (Forageplus, the basic one not the hoof one) than I've ever had using a "hoof supplement".

I have been feeding Farriers Formula Double Concentrate but am giving that up after this tub is finished as he is now on Blue Chip Original which has the SoundHoof in it so I don't see the point really.

That and I don't feel the FF has made a great deal of difference to anything but my wallet. If his feet fall apart when he comes off it I will gladly put him back on it but I'm not convinced by it so far!

I wouldn't feed just biotin as the hoof needs copper and zinc to work with the biotin for a strong hoof, equimins advance complete is a fab balancer and puts blue chip and topspec to shame with the amounts of vits/mins added

Mine is currently on biotin and a general purpose supplement, I've definitely seen a difference while using the biotin, he used to regularly pull shoes and -touch wood- hasn't pulled one since before Christmas at least.

But it's a pain having to put all these different things in his feed so I'm switching him to Pro Balance+ all round balancer/supplement which has biotin, zinc and copper in. Hopefully his feet will either stay the same or improve even more and it'll be a bit kinder on my pocket!

There's a good sale on the ProHoof at the moment - 20% off usual price, I have just ordered :D I don't think the ProBalance+ is in the sale but worth checking!

Thanks, just had a look at ProHoof, I don't quite understand that it's not got biotin in it though? It's typical the thing I want isn't on sale. :(

Do you use any other supplement with the ProHoof? I'm ideally looking for something to replace the whole lot so only adding one thing not hundreds of powders.
