I have put Ethel on Biotin as her feet are quite brittle and keep cracking, shes only been on it a week but they seem a tad better already. Does anyone else use it and do you find it works??

Thanks :)

I use it, but it takes a long time to work as the hoof grows quite slowly. They say after 6 months, roughly, the quality of the hoof improves in density etc and will improve no more, If you continue feeding it will then remain at this level. It definitely works for my boy.

okay cool if it takes a long time to work it could just be my wishful thinking that makes me think her hooves looks better after a week so after the 6 months when they get to the point where they wont improve anymore, do you stop feeding it or will it make the hooves slowly go back to how they were?

I keep feeding mine on about half the dose they recommend and this seems to maintain the hoof quality, I think most of the research for this was in the USA with racehorses. It basically does improve quality, will get it to a certain level and then maintain it there. It does not increase rate of growth as far as I remember. I will look out the research for you, but I think it might be on my laptop.

I put my mare on it when I bought her as her hooves didnt look too good and she had a sand crack a while before. Now my farriers say she has the best hooves they shoe! Very good solid feet. So i'm a big fan of biotin as a supplement :)
