Quick question!

I remember from my show jumping days that there was a shop at Birchinley manor equestrian centre... I seem to remember it being called Euro<something> ;p

Anyway! I liked the place cos it sold some really different stuff.

Im heading back to the UK in a week or so to spend a weekend shopping with my mum and i was wondering if a) its still there and b) it still sells the same really nice / unusual stuff it used to

Or.. any other recommendations of somewhere to go? Im not looking for anything specific, im just on the nosey for some posh saddle cloths / boots / bandages / blingy bits and pieces

Hi I used to do show jumping there about 6 years ago with my horsey. I stand to be corrected but i think that the whole place is no longer going. But this is just through word of mouth so as I said i might be wrong! I rememeber tack shop- was great, in fact whole place was pretty impressive

Right it was/ is called eurostyle. As far as i know its not there anymore, but i did go to another shop which was just down the hill from birchinley. I have googled it and have found a eurostar listed at the address i went to and another in Preston (not far way) which i think is them. Look here..

Hmm hope ive made sense. But yes i used to love that shop, however my dad used to try and stop me from going in and spending his money!!

Equiport do lovely stuff.

Hi Tierra - there is no Birchinley Manor any more, it was sold off and changed, it is now used for - can you believe it "Football", apparently there is nowhere for kids to play - yer right, how many parks, football fields, schools, council run all weather football fields are there. We only live 2 miles away and it was ideal for competitions - I'm still fuming about it, as you can probably tell. The tack shop did for a while operate out of the Old Bank in the centre of Milnrow, but that has now been sold to a firm of Accountants I believe.

Naylors on Edenfield Road has changed hands and I believe that it is very nice, but I havn't been yet.

Exactly what we need is fewer large competition centres

Im stuck as to where to go now! A derby house opened up close to where i used to live in the uk, but frankly, it was dire :/

I'd just like something a bit different! As i said, not sure what.. was hoping id be inspired

As others have said Birchinley Manor/shop is no longer there. The shop was run by Ginnette Brogan & Geoff Green. They transferred the business to a local shop in the same village, then sold on to the people who advertise & are based in Preston. Ginnette Brogan now is the sole supplier for John Whitaker Inl, which is also based in Rochdale but trade only. Hope that helps.

I'm actually up in Rochdale at the moment, and we used to compete at Birchinley when we lived near here. Don't remember the tackshop (oops husband says he does!) Glad they are still going, he just said they were very cheap..apparently we have a few books from there..
