It is Ffee's birthday today. One year old!
As a treat I had a lie in, until 7.30, and got up to a new hole in the wall. She won't have any teeth left by two! She doesn't get very far in, it is a sold Victorian house, but takes the paint off and makes a start on the plaster.
'Get a labrador' they say, 'lovely easy dogs' they say... she is on the go from dawn to dusk, bar a quick recharge at lunchtime. I think she is too fit!

Oops! That what happens when you have a lie-in on your un-birthday, OP. :D

I had a brown Lab bitch who, aged about 2, ate through a lath and plaster wall. We lined it with metal to stop her. The dogs slept in the basement and she had decided she didn't want to stay there while I was out one day. We lined the wooden door as well, so that she couldn't start on that, too.

Labs from working strains are not easy dogs and they do need to be kept busy - not 24 hours a day though! ;) I would crate Ffee overnight if she were mine, tbh.

Oh dear, naughty Ffee, that will teach you to lie in till lunchtime, whatever were you thinking?
My other half said 'get a collie for working, they are so easy, you won't know you have one, I ended up with the springer version of a collie, I don't like springers much (I love my collie) everyone thinks it's very funny, she is finally house clean at 15 months, she behaves but everything is soon fast'

I’ll have a collie one day. But a slow one. ?

Birthday dog is off to the gundog trainer this afternoon, first session. I have told her she has to pretend to be reasonably behaved, and not to let me down.:D. Do I lie about the fact that she has been shooting already!?

Well the trainer was great! Really nice and Ffee was amazing, totally well behaved. It was hosing it down and freezing and she was as good as gold.
Trainer immediately spotted all my shortcomings and second retrieve was spot on. Love that puppy! (Who is now quite exhausted, win, win).
