Bishop Burton? (BE)

It was. They cancelled it straight after the 90RF completed - and I know people that pulled out of that. SJ is on a surface. I was debating it but discounted as a) too far b) too late could = dodgy ground c) daughters birthday day after!

Is Kelsall an option as the ground there held up pretty well when I went to the PC champs despite heavy rain the whole weekend! Have you entered anywhere else this season or not?

Ground was shocking last year - we managed to lose all back studs in the soup that was the dressage warm up/arenas. Showjumping was on a lovely surface but didn't go xc as dressage score was truly dreadful (understandably), were doing the RF so not much point and ground was horrendous. I think normally they wouldn't have gone ahead but as it was the RF they felt they had to let it run. Abandoned as soon as the last competitor in that class went xc, so the PN competitors only got to dressage and sj.

is it not a looooooong way for you? We've made the trek a couple of times (boxful with a few riders) and had nothing but bad luck - including two hospitalisations! (human not equine ;)) so it's firmly off our list! Beautiful place though! (and very kind & efficient with the disasters! :))

Maybe you should have had a go XC. We also had a shocking dressage score in the RF but went clear XC and qualified for the Grassroots Champs.

I admit that it was pretty muddy XC but in fact it was so wet that the mud had turned to liquid and so wasn't as slippery as it might have been ie the studs managed to go through the mud and find some grip.

I would hope that the conditions last year were a one off. I have been there several times and had a great time every event. The staff are friendly and helpful and the facilities are just amazing.

no its not that long for me- 2 hours maximum....
i'm definitely going to kelsall as the ground is always pretty good there (they run their farm ride all year round and its always been fine even in the depths of wet wet winter!)- plus i'm fencejudging on the sunday :)

also def going to enter norton disney at the end of october. went last year and loved it- ground was fantastic. think i might give BB a miss...am pretty skint and really don't want to risk an injury in the mud (which lets face it- it will be muddy- it won't stop raining!)

Have you entered for Kelsall - could not see you down for it and thought Saturday was full?

yes possibly. have just asked for late times so i can get plaited and everything sunday morning rather than at the end of the day on saturday :) are you on on saturday?

We have done Bishop Burton a couple of times in 2008 and 2009 when the weather has been truly appalling and everything else has been cancelled! Have to say that my horse ran really well, and felt the ground was as good as it could possibly be
