Bit advice for dressage

Hi, I currently ride my warmblood in a Dutch gag as this is not allowed in dressage what does everyone use that is similar please that I can compete in ?? Thanks in advance.

I would try a hanging cheek although it's a bit of a myth that they have a leverage poll action they don't, so yes agree with shortstuff it's worth trying a few and see what works I use a hanging cheek on one of my Arabs it's a sweet iron with copper lozenge but his not strong at all but likes a still mouth piece so it works for us.

There's nothing dressage legal that is like a Dutch gag in action (there's a reason it is not dressage legal ?). But if your horse likes the mouthpiece (eg single jointed, french link etc) that you have on your gag then you can usually get the same mouthpiece in a snaffle, so at least that is familiar for them.

Hanging cheek snaffles have absolutely no leverage. Indeed, as rein pressure is applied, you'll see the cheek pieces gape, which relieves pressure at the poll. Only way to get leverage is to have the rein attached lower than the bit ring (like you currently have). Sounds like you might need a bitting consultant to help you.
