Ive had this new horse for 2 weeks now and everything has been superb with him, so far hes been very forward going but really easy to stop. I have just had a lesson on him (jumping) and he was stupidly strong I could not have possibly pulled back any further and his head was higher than mine.. so my bad for not having a martingale but so far so good and was not needed, already taken him to 2 shows and he was impeccable. He's currently in a happy mouth snaffle, i have never used a happy mouth but i've heard they arent strong bits at all? The owners told me the lighter the bit the better he goes and he doesnt like strong bits so much so i want to be very careful about what i try with him, i was thinking maybe a full cheeck french link, or snaffle? please give me some ideas..

Just check how the bit is sitting - Mine did that after a trainer put the bit up his mouth. Put it back down, he stopped doing it.

Might be worth trying a sheepskin on the noseband as well if he raises his head rather than a martingale again?
