I seem to be having a bit of an ongoing search for the right bit for Shy. He is 4 1/2 years old, and he was started in a Happy Mouth, but very quickly chewed that, presumably thru teething
He has a thick tongue, and seems to prefer thinner bits (the mullen mouth rubber I got, he tried to spit out like a dummy, lol ). He has his teeth done every six months.
He really seems to object atm to having metal in his mouth, constantly chomping and trying to evade any contact by putting his head down. The only metal bit he has settled with is a copper roller, but isn't that a bit harsh ? So recently I have tried a rubber eggbutt, but he's just chewed right through that, and dare I say it, a bitless bridle, but we won't talk about that
Today I tried him in his hanging cheek french link (he used to hold his head with his nose sticking out), but that was a certain no. Even with hardly any contact at all (or none), he was chomping down on it. Have tried a fulmer snaffle, an eggbutt single jointed and I just don't like loose rings (previous bad experience).
Is it okay to just use the copper roller d ring, or is this not good ? I have been looking on ebay for a copper based smoother bit, but I do need advice tbh.
Thanks so much
