Just wondered what snaffles people used?
Currently using a neue schule loose ring team up which he seems to go fine in. It's just a little small so could do with the next size up and wanted to see what else there was out there before buying another team up. He can be a little inconsistant in the contact, but I don't think that's the bit as such, NS have also suggested the new turtle top snaffle
Advice please
TIA x

My 6 yr old cob is in an eldonian 'balancer' D ring snaffle and goes very well in it, very relaxed. He moved up to this after chewing through his 2nd straight bar happy mouth!

I use the NS Verbidend (sp?) on my lad for flat work He used to drop behind the contact in a plain snaffle or French link but is much happier in the NS. I think he likes the way the bit is shaped, plus he seems happier in a thinner mouth piece.

I use a myler comfort snaffle for everything bar schooling & for flat work I have a sprenger kk ultra dynamic snaffle, it's like butter but I don't have any breaks.

I am tempted by the turtle top myself; it does feel like it should be comfy for the horse; a friend has one for her TB and really rates it!

Myler comfort snaffle with low port for hacking and schooling. May need better brakes when we start doing more . NS recommended the turtle top too me but budget wouldn't stretch that far.

What's the significance of the low port? I've never used a myler before but it's had a lot of recommendations. I don't mind spending out if it works but potentially could be a lot before I find the right one lol!!

The low port works well for my horse as he has quite a fat tongue, it helps relieve tongue pressure. Yried him in lozenge snaffles before this and he really wasn't happy with them. I had the myler bit on trial from one of the various bit hire companies, cosy about nine pounds for 30 day trial. I bought the actual bit I have now off ebay for half the price of a new one.
