When I bought Kal, he was in a single-jointed snaffle and we changed that to a french link . . . but he's still a little fussy/inconsistent even with a really still, quiet hand.
We've since discovered that The GD is much more still and consistent in his head with something in his mouth that has a little movement/play (i.e., his Waterford). Obviously, I don't want to ride him in the Waterford all the time (we use it for cross country only to help with steering issues), but think he might be more settled/happier with something similar on the flat, i.e, something with a peanut or roller. We also wonder if a sweet iron bit would encourage him to mouth/accept the bit more.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
