At the moment my husband and daughter ride his horse in a jointed rubber hanging cheek snaffle as they are both still a bit heavy handed and move their hands about esp when cantering. The horse just chews through rubber and happy mouth bits in a few weeks so can anyone suggest a nice gentle bit that I can use to replace the rubber?

What about a nice french link? Being double jointed it doesn't have the harsh nutcracker action of a snaffle so it won't be as unpleaseant for the horse if he does get caught in the mouth. Lunging for your husband and daughter to improve their hands might be good too!

they are both having lessons and hubby is having one on a horse simulator at the weekend (for his b'day) I use a french link hanging cheek on my horse but I ride his in a hanging cheek waterford. Do you think a french link is more gentle than the waterford?
