I have a HW cob and am needing a bit with a bit more strength here are the ones i have tried:
Bubble bit (3 ring snaffle/dutch gag) and he just stuck his head down and broncd everytime i aked him to canter
Loose ring snaffle had no control everytime in trot just went straight to canter
kimblewick was a lot better but still a little strong when being schooled and when hacking home
Baisically he is really strong when hacking home and trys jogging all of the time, and when schooling he gets strong when in trot and goes straight to canter but when hes in canter he isn't strong at all just goes on his forehand. Any advice on what others to try?

pelham? would be similar to a kimble wick but with a longer shank, i only like rubber ones as i think they are nicer than metal or vulcanite.

yer i would say pelham too
is he in a flash? might help a bit too
or maybe you could try a stronger mouthpiece like a waterford or a cherryroller???

I thought maybe about a cherry roller, he is ridden in a snaffle. Someone told me to try a pelham but didn't know whether they are a bit harsh or have i got that totally wrong?

No pelhams are good! If he doesn't like a normal mouth piece in it I find a french link helps, every horse I have ridden (including a HW cob) have accepted it and gone beautifully in it!

they can be if used in the wrong hands! youl find that you will have to be much lighter with your hands as you wont need to do much to get a response. but this can differ between horses

Our cob goes lovely in a pelham....I have tried others but she really likes this....its a rubber straight bar, OH uses roundings as he is a novice and 2 reins is 1 too much for him
