Recetly got a section d mare on loan and has been brought into work trying to get her fit and lose abit of the belly she is currently in a full cheak single jointed happy mouth she is going alot better thanks to alot of help from my yard owner because we both thought she felt like she had no mouth also ridden in draw reins is it best to keep working on it or does anyone recomend any changes ?

I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to ask here? I am by no means a bit expert but my opinion would be if you have control in a happy mouth snaffle then I would stick with that rather than changing to something stronger.
Sorry its not great advice but at least it has bumped your post!

I'm not clear how draw reins would help in this situation? I thought they were used to encourage the horse to build up topline so they can come into an outline more easily. They won't help with a bitting issue? I'm open to being wrong - but my advice would be to loose the drawn reins immeidately. Your mare might be stiffening against them rather than softening leading to the impression that she has no mouth. She might in fact have no topline and would benefit from a bit more schooling and conditioning rather than gadgets.

And before anyone thinks I'm gadget phobic I have used draw reins in the past and would happily do so again if the horse and the situation warranted. But they are very easy to over use or abuse. The horse then learns to harden against the pull in order to save themseleves the pain it can create in the neck muscles.

I would try her without draw reins and see how that goes, and if I was you don't change what isn't broken. If she is happy in what she's in leave it.

Sorry, not entirely sure what you mean by this?

Are you having any specific schooling issues that you are looking to address?

Ditto Kokopelli, if she's happy and improving in what she's in, I would continue with it :)
