Have recently got a new mare and i'm going through the motions of trying to find her a new bit.
She's 8 but she is a big baby and was only broken in last year so lots of schooling needed.
She came in a loose ring french link snaffle. It was too big for her, wasn't a bad bit on her though but i didn't do much schooling or hacking in it so i could try it again. Anyways, i put her in a full cheek fulmer snaffle. I read that it would help with steering etc but it doesn't. (Her teeth are fine) She tries to resist it and i can't really stop her, she also seems like the bit is holding her back a bit. I understand that brakes will come with schooling but i don't want to be pulling her mouth out in the process.
I would like a gentle bit that would help me encourage her to school, brakes, steering a bit of an all rounder. I could try the loose french link again but i was just wondering if anyone had any advice or experience? Don't want nothing harsh and something to encourage her forward.
Thank you.
