Bit advice western to english

Hi guys,

So if a horse is used to going in a bit like this, cheek pieces attaching to the top and reins to the bottom;

What is the English equivalent? I believe the version of this she wears is very mild, it's also copper so tastes nice. Horse is voice controlled and stops on a whoa and turns thro weight or neck reining so doesn't need anything harsh at all.

I have a lovely loose ring sweet iron bit with a lozenge, plain eggbutt or a fulmer eggbutt. My preference is for the loose ring with lozenge but not sure if it's too wildly different from current bit?

Any experts?
 
I would try what you want and see how she goes, most prefer a lozenge to a single joint and if she is genuinely light what is in her mouth should make little difference to her, if she is not happy in the loose ring I would try a hanging snaffle which will be more stable in her mouth but you may have to try a few before you know what she likes and in part it depends on how you want to ride her, if you plan on riding with a direct contact it may take her a while to adjust.
 
Thanks BP, am happy to ride her as she's used to to start so long rein and using voice controls but as you mention am not sure whether to start with something more fixed as that's what she's used to?

I wouldn't go out buying at this stage, give her a few days and see how it goes, if she objects you will soon know and can make changes if required, I put everything that comes here into a loose ring french link or lozenge initially and then assess as I get to know them, not that I have had a western trained horse for many years but others come in in various interesting bits and most are happy to change.
 
A 2 in 1 butterfly elevator would prob be most similar, but not cheap.

That said, I'd poss send details to bit bank( or call them, they are very helpful) and ask them what uk bits would be similar action. You might well find (as BP says) that a french link might well suit or any soft jointed bit.
I'd prob try my fulmer french link to start with.
