I need to have a play around with bits for jumping.

I currently ride my pony in a french link loose ring (with flash) but I really have to pull to hold on to him and I'm finding as this makes me unbalanced and often out of the saddle trying to slow him down.

He goes beautifully in his french link for dressage / schooling. I do 6 days a week of work with him (including one lesson every week) and have tried up until now to be able to just ride in the french link for jumping - but i really we need something a teeny bit stronger now to help us both.

He came with a 3 ring gag (which i don't really want to use)

oddly enough i tried my horse n a loose ring frnch link today and found him strong, stronger than in his normal thick eggbut snaffle so will be interested to hear replies!

I once borrowed a bit which worked well for my mare who is ridden in a loose ring french link. It was a Sprenger KK Ultra Elevator Bit i found it wasnt a harsh as the usual gag bits and she really liked it. Although its similar to the gag seemed to work much nicer!

I had my mare in a loose ring french link which she was fine in untill i jumped her in it. I had no control at all. Now have her in a 3 ring snaffle and she hacks out much better (only have it on 2nd ring), havn't yet jumped her with it but she seems happy. Its difficult to know whats best, just try a few different bits. My pony came with a hanging snaffle and flash nose band and she was not happy with it at all. Now ditched the flash and changed the bit and theres no head shaking at all, shes much more relaxed even tho its a harsher bit
