Hi i have a 13.2 tb x welsh and hes very exitable and im looking to try a different bit in him he doesnt look it but it pretty strong and leans on the bit sometimes aswell as opening his mouth, he is lets say very mad out hacking hunting funrides he just loves them i would just like a bit i dont have to haul on to stop :P
Oh and hes in a dutch gag with french link atm doesnt seem to strongly help alot:P

I can't stand Dutch gags as they are never used correctly so the action is so indistinct. Should be used with 2 reins and a curb strap. Try a Waterford snaffle to stop the leaning and a drop noseband as they dont have to be tight to be effective so he can still relax his jaw. You should be able to get 2 finger between nose and noseband

tryed with two reins no difference okay thanks :)

I would be investigating why he leans and pulls. This could be an avoidance behaviour rather than excitement.

he used to do racing hence why hes mad he only likes going fast in fields hence why he doesnt like me trying to stop him and he figures if he leans on the bit its harder for me to stop him
