Hi can anyone reccomend a bit for a very fussy horse. He is iin a french link hanging snaffle which he is ok in but not great. He is not strong but he can resist the bit schooling. He gets tense and throws his head around chomps on the bit. I also dont fell like he really softens, he lowers his head and tenses all his musclesin his neck and jaw.
I did try him in a bitless dr cook which was ok, but head in the sky, I liked it but need something I can compete in.
Saddle back ect all checked - fine he is just quite a tense horse!
Many thanks

If you can afford it I'd suggest one of the Mylers, they're brilliant bits and I've really noticed the change in my boy since I've got one. They can give you a bit of brakes also if you need it!

I have been thinking about a myler maybe hirering one. Did your horse feel more excepting? I just have to be careful as anything to strong and he goes a bit backwards, or he curls his head round onto his chest!!

Have just converted to a myler comfort snaffle and my lad loves it!! Still goes in a hanging cheek french link for dressage but the myler has replaced a happy mouth dutch gag for jumping as this was sending him backwards with any pressure. He's so much happier now and the brakes seem to work too!! Picked mine up off ebay for about £30.

I have just bought a myler for my horse and he loves it. My problem was he has a very large tongue and was uncomfortable even in a lozenge bit. Much happier now!

try a myler 04 snaffle. it is like a frnech link, but the middle bit is slightly lifted off the tongue. my lad was (and still can be) really tense, but this has helped enormously.

they aren't dressage legal tho - I resort to the dressage legal one for a few days before a test.
