I've tried to hunt down the last thread that I think covered this but I failed miserably, so apologies.
Basically, I have a horse who is on field rest for the next few months. He is SLIGHTLY overweight, more so than I'd like anyway, on no hard feed and soaked hay in a largely short field/pen dependant on his way of going.
My YM has asked that I strip graze his field now for it is too wispy to hay and it wont be cut/topped otherwise. It is quite long - but very patchy and seems to be more wispy bits than actual grass. That said, which is better for him in terms of weight - short grass / long ? I was always of the understanding that long grass has less to it, but I thought I'd check!
Many thanks!
