so.. i had my new boy 9 days.

I am in the middle of trying a few bits... my new horsey came with a very basic French link snaffle. I refused to use this as it was a little small and from my point of view he requires an extra 1/2 inch, I then tried my Myler (I do love these little beauties)

He is very much a light contact horse and he wants to take it forward himself. He goes lovely in until he gets nosey ( he is a very nosey horse) not spooky really, but if he spots something mid schooling he will put his head high and look, and makes it feel like I have nothing. Drives me bonkers and I know lessons will help its not huge problem a he is still settling in so im guessing it may just be a new thing ,doesn't help he is lazy but does anyone have any tips ? I do try and keep him focused he is just sooooo bloody nosey:-)

TIA xx

This doesn't really sound like a bit problem TBH. You've only had him 9 days so it sounds like he is still taking in his new environment. You've changed his home, his rider and his tack (the Myler bit will be a different feel for him) so I would be patient with him and allow him to settle. If it were me I would continue as you are with your schooling etc. Give him lots to do during each session so he has to concentrate on you and doesn't have time to look around at things. Lots of transitions, circles etc nothing too taxing but enough to keep his brain engaged.
