My cob is 11 years old and used to be driven, i currently ride her in a metal loose ring french link snaffle however she is very stubborn when i ask her to bring in her head, can anybody suggest any bits she might prefer (thinking about getting a rubber one???) or any exercises i can do to make her more supple? dont want anything strong! Thanks x

I agree you need help on the ground from a good instructor. A bit doesn't help with getting a horses head in or down. It comes from correct working

You don't need a bit to bring the head in - you need consistent work from behind. Try doing half halts and changing of gears, push trot along the long side and collect up on the short and in circles.

Possibly doesn't like the french link part of it, it can be sore on the tongue if its thick. Have you a bit with a lozenge to try? Its a bit milder so she might be happier having contact.

Ive tried both, i show her in a pelham and she goes nicely in that but i dont want something that strong to ride in everyday thats why im possibly thinking a rubber bit?

Rubber bits can be quite thick, which in a fleshy mouth can squash the tounge. What mouthpiece is the pelham? If she likes it you could look for a snaffle with the same. Prehaps try a mullen mouth snaffle?
