Hi All

Bit of a random question really, but recently bought some rubber bit guards, I was just wondering if anybody had any tips on how to take away the rubber smell & taste, I have soaked then in washing up liquid but no change?

Thanks

i had the same problem with mine, i couldnt really get rid of the smell and taste and i dont think my horse liked it either! but after using it for a couple of weeks the taste faded :)

??? Just stick them on the bit and get on with it, I've never heard of anyone worrying about the smell, and certainly not the taste... They don't go in the mouth.

Thanks i hope & prey the horrible taste & smell goes away after a few weeks, made me feel physically sick when I smelt them !

i would like to say that I think your response was rather abrupt & i certainly know they dont go in the mouth ive owned horses for years but never used, felt or smelt them, i have asked for helpful advice which your comment isnt !

I was actually just stating a fact, not instructing you. Honestly I've never had a problem with the horse not liking them, also, of you have the old fashioned ones, they become a bit more supple with use but are hard to get on the bit, so if you havent put them on I would soak in warm water and I always use 2 spoons to help leaver them on
