Im really confused, I was riding my cob in a 3 ring dutch gag and he really begun to play up and hated the poll pressure so i got told to try a roller loose ring snaffle, which he likes but have less control and no breaks. Does any one know what other bit he may like as im totally useless in this department. Thanks

What ring was the rein on? If it was on the last, have you tried moving it up? How about a jointed kimblewick? They create small amounts of leverage and i find them useful with strong horses.Depending on the position of the rider's hands, the standard kimberwicke has very mild curb effect when the rein is allowed to slide freely along the curved portion of the D-ring. However, one popular design, the Uxeter kimberwicke, has slots in the curved portion of the ring, so that the rein may be fixed into one position. This increases the curb effect, especially when the rein is placed on the lower of the two slots.
Or you could try a hanging cheek snaffle, it's a bit stronger than a normal snaffle.
Because your horse has been ridden in a strong bit, it will take time and schooling to get him responsive to the snaffle.

This ones also good for horses who can be a tad strong in a plain snaffle
